The principle goal of a spa (acronym for Salutis Per Aqua, health through water) is to benefit from the use of water to improve the quality of life through relaxation and rest. Benefit from the huge therapeutical and relaxing mineromedicinal waters of our resort enriched with high and unique concentration of chemical and physical properties.
Termales Santa Mónica offers to our guests and visitors a fully equipped Spa area, with all the services and construction details. We invite you to enjoy the therapeutical benefits of our Jacuzzi of hot springs waters, relax with the dry heat of the saunas and the wet heat of our steam rooms or enjoy of a wonderful relaxing massage that with the nature and landscapes of the area make of Termales Santa Monica the most attractive hot spring resort to enjoy all year long.
On 14th June of 2009 we opened 2 new steam rooms with a room capacity of 40 people each, which complete the existing wet zones with a capacity for 30 people.
Our 3 steam rooms benefit from the humid heat resulting from the vaporization of the hot springs. The steam generates in the room a relative humidity of 99% that produces the classic (fog) and temperature of 20 to 25 degrees on the floor, close to 40ºC at 1.5mt and 50ºC at head height. This saturated environment makes that the water steam generates dispersion of heat through the skin favoring the property that in the steam room you sweat less that in the sauna.
The steam room has many indisputable therapeutical and purifying benefits. Their use speeds up the metabolic functions, produces an expectorant effect to humidify the airways, increases the oxygen exchange capacity of the cardio respiratory system, relieves menstrual symptoms and relaxes the nervous system. The practice of alternating hot baths in steam rooms and cold showers contribute to clean the skin and slow down the aging process by eliminating toxins and impurities, with direct benefits to health and beauty.
Steam rooms of hot springs waters in Termales Santa Mónica, Colombia   Recommendations of use

Due to the effect of increasing heart rate, steam rooms are not recommended for the elderly, pregnant women and people with blood pressure or vasodilatation disorders; they must also be avoided by people with severe bronchial disease and epilepsy.

If you are planning to use the steam rooms, rest between 15 to 30 minutes after doing sports. Do not enter the cabin when hungry or right after a meal; allow at least an hour after meals.
Before use it is advisable to hydrate with a beverage and take a shower with warm water. Start the session in the lowest seat so your body adapts to heat, do not exceed a 15 minutes session. At the end stand up slowly to avoid feeling dizzy and a few  minutes later take a shower with cold water to get  an adequate vasoconstriction. Finally, do not forget to drink water or sports drink. Supplement with a massage session contributes to a greater feeling of relaxation.
The sauna is characterized by a dry heat ranging from 80ºC and 100ºC, higher than that of a steam room, but with a relative low humidity, no greater than 15%, which does not allow any skin burns. Basically, the heat sources are electric heaters and light bulbs. Sauna baths are sealed wooden rooms that favor an abundant body sweating as body cooling mechanism and are exquisitely scented with eucalyptus, lemon and pineapple.
The sauna provides many benefits to good health. The high temperature (and the resulting sweating) removes accumulated toxins, relieves joint and muscle ailments, improves lung function and breathing, promotes the production of T cells responsible for fighting infections and exercises the cardiovascular system, among other benefits.
